The Monticello Canyon Association (MCA) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization formed in 2003, whose membership consists of all residents of Monticello Canyon. Our mission is to preserve and support the historic, multicultural, and rural heritage of the Monticello Canyon community. The MCA board of directors is elected by members, and the association is entirely voluntary. In addition to the legal requirements of a 501(c)3, the MCA follows the principles of cooperation: open and voluntary membership; democratic member control; economic benefit; autonomy and independence; education and training; and community involvement. The MCA sponsors events throughout the year and supports various local organizations based in the canyon.

The Monticello Holiday Store, which is held annually on the first two weekends of December, attracts visitors from all around the state for its artisanal foods and arts and crafts—all made by local residents. The MCA has sponsored brisket dinners in the Plaza, auctions, history talks, harvest sales, historic photo sharing, cookbook signings, Christmas Eve luminaria and caroling, and many other events.
